Microsoft Buys UM Computer Scientist's Firm
Microsoft has acquired Komoku Inc., a company created by a University of Maryland computer scientist to produce advanced protection against so-called "rootkits." These malicious softwares are designed to take control of a computer's operating system at the administrator, or root, level.
