Mock Trial Wins Unprecedented 5th National Championship

The University of Maryland Mock Trial team won an unprecedented fifth national championship over weekend, triumphing in a field that included teams from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell, Berkeley, Michigan, University of Virginia, UCLA, Chicago, Wisconsin, Georgetown, and many other traditional mock trial powers. Undergraduate Terrapin attorneys began by splitting a close round with pre-tournament favorite NYU, then soundly defeated Macalester, Bowling Green, and Cornell to qualify for the finals against George Washington. Arguing before several state Supreme Court justices, Maryland won a close decision to bring the national title back to College Park.
