I'm Admitted - What's Next?

Now that you've been admitted to the University of Maryland, there are a number of steps to take to connect with our community and learn more about becoming a student at Maryland.

1. Check your decision online. This site will give you important information about your major, residency status, and whether or not you have been admitted to any special programs. Explore what awaits you in your academic major or find out more about residency requirements!

2. Respond to your offer of admission. If you choose to confirm your enrollment (and we hope you do!), please return to your admission decision letter on the application portal. You will need to log-in to the application portal using your PIN and password. Please click on "Your application decision is now available online." Within your letter is a hyperlink that allows you to confirm your enrollment and pay your $400 enrollment deposit. It may take up to 48 business hours for your confirmation to be processed and posted to your record. If you decide not to attend UMD, you may also decline your offer of admission through the application portal.

3. While confirming your enrollment, submit your non-refundable $400 enrollment deposit to reserve your space in the incoming class. This enrollment deposit will be applied to your tuition. If you choose not to pay your enrollment deposit by credit card, our confirmation site will provide further instructions for how you may submit this deposit.

4. To request housing and select dining preferences, complete the online housing request form available through the application portal. Find out more about on and off campus housing and dining.

5. If you have been invited to one of our living and learning programs, including Honors, Scholars, CIVICUS, or Global Communities please visit their websites for more information on how to indicate your interest in joining their communities.

6. Visit! Now that you've been admitted, join us for a Spring Open House, take a tour or attend an event to become acquainted with our students and faculty. See for yourself all that our campus has to offer!

7. Learn more about Orientation. Register for an orientation date, create a university email and directory ID, take the online required math placement exam and fill out required surveys through the Orientation Office.

8. Visit the Health Center website to read about the Mandatory Health Insurance Requirement and download the required Immunization Form.

9. How will you finance your education? Learn more about financial aid and merit scholarships.

10. Find out how you can receive transfer credit for your transfer courses and course credit for AP, CI and IB exams.

11. Start to prepare for your arrival to Maryland by investigating communication, technology and transportation services on campus.

12. If you have been admitted as a freshman for the Spring 2013 semester learn more about your admission and options for the fall semester. You may also want to look into consider participating in Freshmen Connection.

13. Submit your final high school transcript. Please note, if you will be a freshman beginning in the Fall 2012 semester, receipt of your final transcript is required prior to enrolling. In order to allow time to verify your high school graduation, please provide your final transcript as soon as it is available. Transcripts should be mailed to the following address:

If you will be a transfer student beginning in the Fall 2012 semester, we encourage you to submit your Spring 2012 transcript as soon as your grades are posted so that we may promptly evaluate your transfer credit.
