It is our expectation that you maintain your current level of academic performance. In addition, the University requires you to update the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, should you have disciplinary or criminal action taken against you between the time you submitted your application and the start of classes. If this is the case, please email ApplyMaryland@umd.edu with the subject line "Disciplinary Update". Any significant changes in either of the above could result in the reassessment of your admission decision.
You have likely landed on this page from your admission letter. Be sure to keep your letter handy. It includes important information about your semester of admission, major, advising college, resident status and University ID (UID). If you have not yet seen your letter, log in to your MyCoalition account, proceed to the University of Maryland section on the Colleges list and click on View Decision Letter.
Please respond to your offer of admission by completing the Decision Response located on your UMD Checklist. If your answer is YES, and we hope it is, you will need to submit your enrollment deposit. This nonrefundable $400 deposit will reserve your place in the incoming class and will be applied to your tuition. It may take up to 48 business hours for your confirmation to be processed.
Newly admitted students may be able to acquire their Directory ID approximately one business day after the date of their admission decision. To create your Directory ID, please go to identity.umd.edu.
After acquiring your Directory ID, you will also need to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Both your Directory ID and the MFA will be necessary to complete your Housing and Dining Agreement (required of all students living in residence halls) as well as to access other UMD systems such as student financial aid, registration for orientation and courses, and most other student services. Additional information on how to enroll in MFA can be found online. If you need any assistance please contact the Division of Information Technology.
It may take up to 48 business hours for your Directory ID to become effective. Creating your Directory ID does not require confirming your enrollment at UMD.
Prior to registering for an Admitted Student Open House, you must complete the process in step 4 of the checklist (Acquire Your UMD Directory ID). Both your Directory ID and the Multi-Factor Authentication will be necessary to complete your registration process.
After submitting your Decision Response and acquiring your Directory ID, determine if you would like to enroll in Freshmen Connection. Whether you choose to enroll in Freshmen Connection or not, you will need to select a date for your orientation and take care of a few more things to get you ready to join us on campus.
Every new first-year student who desires to live in campus residence halls must complete the Housing and Dining Agreement by May 1, to be eligible to live on campus. You must acquire your Directory ID prior to completing this step.
International students will need to work with the office of International Students & Scholar Services (ISSS) to receive an I-20 Form and complete the New International Student To-Do List. Students must confirm their enrollment at UMD before their student visa application process can begin.
If you’ve earned credits through courses at another institution or through standard exams (such as AP, IB, A/AS Level and CLEP exams), they may count toward your UMD degree. Submit your most recent transcripts to the address below as soon as your grades are posted so we may promptly evaluate your transfer credit. To review which of your credits will transfer, review your unofficial transcript (Directory ID required for access) which will be available roughly 15 business days after you are admitted. In order to keep our campus healthy and safe, we require that all incoming students submit immunization information prior to their arrival on campus. In addition, domestic undergraduate students must attest that they have health insurance or enroll in the school-sponsored plan by February 15. The insurance attestation or enrollment can occur after you have registered for classes. International students will automatically be enrolled in the school-sponsored plan.
