If you are admitted to the University of Maryland and hold or intend to seek an F-1 Student or J-1 Exchange Visitor visa, you must provide proof of liquid finances to cover one year’s worth of expenses (tuition, fees, books, insurance, and living expenses). A current official bank statement from your sponsor that clearly indicates the name of the account holder and sufficient funds to cover expenses must be provided. We do not need this documentation until after you are offered admission to the university.If you have a sponsor, a signed letter of support in English is required along with the sponsor’s proof of finances. If you have dependent(s), please show additional financial support of $4,500 for each dependent.

Tuition and fees for each semester, as well as other university charges, books and supplies must be paid in full before the first day of classes. Medical insurance is required for all international students attending the University of Maryland.
