On-Campus Open Houses

Immerse yourself in our world of fearless ideas by checking out our signature campus events.

During the college application process, it's important for you to get to know the universities you're applying to. Fall Open House is a great opportunity for prospective students and their families to learn about everything the University of Maryland (UMD) has to offer. During this day long program you'll speak with UMD representatives, hear from current students and learn more about our admission process and academic programs. Registration is required. Our next Fall Open House will be held in October 2023.

As you make your way through the college search process, see for yourself why UMD could be the right fit for you by attending Discover Maryland. During this day long program, which is specifically designed for high school sophomores and juniors, you'll learn all about our admission process, have the opportunity to chat with current students, take a tour of campus and explore the exciting opportunities in and beyond the UMD classroom. Plus, representatives from our schools and colleges will be available to discuss our academic programs with you. Our next Discover Maryland will be held in February 2024.

Each spring, newly admitted UMD students and their families are invited to join us for an Admitted Student Open House! During this day long program, guests will hear from faculty and staff from their academic program, and connect with students and campus representatives as they learn more about our special programs and exciting student life. Our next Admitted Student Open House will be held in March 2024.

Join us for the annual Maryland Day celebration and discover why so many exceptional students are choosing the University of Maryland. During this day of learning, fun and discovery you can participate in demonstrations, tour our beautiful campus, conduct science experiments with everyday household items, get up and dance and even meet baby lambs. You'll also see Testudo - Maryland Day would not be complete without him! Our next Maryland Day will be held in April 2024.

Finance

Consistently ranked as one of the best values in public higher education, you can rest assured that you will receive an affordable world-class education.

College is a major investment for you and your family. The university is here to help. We offer an array of financial aid programs—including scholarships, grants, loans and student employment—as part of our commitment to making an excellent education affordable.

ESTIMATED COST OF ATTENDANCE:

State of Maryland Residents   Non-Maryland Residents

The University of Maryland has launched a new investment in need-based financial aid, the Terrapin Commitment program, which will provide up to $20 million annually for students from the state of Maryland.

The goal of the Terrapin Commitment program is to reduce the gap between a student’s total financial aid package and the cost of an education. The program will begin in January 2023 and ensures that tuition and fees are fully covered for Pell eligible, in-state students, who are enrolled full time and have unmet financial need. More details can be found on the Office of Student Financial Aid's website.
